Hi, I’m C.B. Felder, the creator of Leo and His Friends.
This book series began as a way to capture real-life travel memories in a fun, meaningful format. What started as a personal project—turning actual trips into stories I could remember and revisit—quickly became something more. I realized that these adventures weren’t just memories; they were stories that could inspire curiosity, confidence, and a sense of possibility in young readers.
Each Leo and His Friends book is inspired by real journeys, real planning, and real experiences. The destinations, the order of events, and the excitement of exploring somewhere new all reflect trips that actually happened. Along the way, I found myself thinking about the lessons built into every adventure—saving for a goal, planning ahead, working together, and embracing creativity when things don’t go exactly as planned.
That’s where Leo, Penny, Sam, and Chloe come in.
Through their travels, these four friends show that great adventures don’t just happen—they’re built with teamwork, thoughtful choices, and a willingness to try something new. Whether the story takes them across the world or closer to home, my goal is always the same: to make reading fun while gently encouraging kids and families to think about how planning, curiosity, and confidence can open the door to memorable experiences.
I hope these books spark great conversations at home and in the classroom—and maybe even inspire your own next adventure, no matter how big or small.
Free teacher guides and classroom resources for each book are available on this site.
